HOA Confuses Itself With Law Enforcement, Thinks They Can Issue Restraining Orders via Letter

So Edgewater Isle Master Association board of directors apparently gets a little ticked at a homeowner's outspoken criticism. Critics of homeowners associations are nothing new, and they're all over the internet.

And this tactic, shown below by Edgewater Isle Master Association, is also becoming more widely used: paint the homeowner as "difficult," begin to document "harassment" in writing, and let it all pile up. WE KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING. You're lying, in writing, because of what you think it can ultimately get you.

Ou favorite part: the HOA's attorney thinks they can issue a restraining order via a letter. This is a classic case of HOA bullying.

Re: Edgewater Isle Master Association - Interference with Contract

Dear Ms. Posner:

My office is legal counsel to Edgewater Isle Master Association. The Association has received
information that you have had personal communications with Mr. MXXXXX TXXXXX of R&M
Construction which Mr. TXXXXX viewed as inappropriate and disturbing. On behalf of my client,
I request that you refrain from any further communications with Mr. TXXXXX or any other employees
of the Association or of the Association's vendors.

It is necessary that the Association maintain good relations with its contractors and with their
employees. This means that any communications which members of the Association wish to make
with the contractor or with an employee of the contractor must be channeled through the Board of
Directors or management.

Pursuant to Article VII, Section 7. J of the Restated Declaration of Covenants, Conditions and
Restrictions recorded April 11, 2007, you are prohibited from harassing any Association vendors.

Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.

Very truly yours,

Jeffrey A. Barnett

Oh please. If M T had actually received such "disturbing" communication, should his own employer be the one who is writing such letters? Who do you think you are? And to even imply such demonstrates that you actually know nothing about M T and the homeowner about which you purport "harassment." You guys are a laughing stock.
